American Oncology Institute launches comprehensive cancer consultation

Ludhiana, August 9, 2018 (Rajinder Ahuja): American Oncology Institute (AOI), one of India’s leading chain of cancer hospitals founded by a team of cancer care experts from UPMC, Pittsburg, USA, today announced the launch of Comprehensive Cancer Consultation, (3C) at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana.

In India, cancer is the second most common cause of death. It is estimated that more than 3 million people are living with cancer and over 7 lakh new cases are registered every year in India. Alarmingly, 71 per cent of deaths happen due to cancer in the age group of 30-69 years.

Cancer diagnosis and treatment involve complex process and procedure and it need a multimodality treatment approach. With the launch of 3C, a comprehensive cancer care treatment will be given to the patients with 3 expert consultation and opinion which involve Medical Oncologist, Radiation Oncologist and Surgical Oncologist under one roof.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr G S Brar, Surgical Oncologist said, “Majority of the patients report for treatment in advanced stages of the disease, resulting in delay of timely and quality medical treatment. Effective Cancer treatment needs collaborative multi-disciplinary approach. During a 3C consultation at AOI, experts from Medical, Radiation and Surgical Oncology discuss the best approach to manage each case.”

Dr Sandhya Sood, Radiation Oncologist said, “In cancer treatment, it is important that the treatment regimen is not clinician specific but should be based on standardized clinical protocols. At AOI, these protocols are developed using evidence gathered after treating thousands of cancer cases across the Western world including the US and India.”

Dr. Kunal Jain and Dr. Davinder Paul, Medical Oncologist said, “This special consultation can be availed by any person who is suspected to have cancer or has been diagnosed with cancer. 3C consultations will be done of Wednesday and Friday from 4pm to 6pm with prior appointment.”
