Manitoba Hindu Seniors Society celebrated India’s 75th Republic day

: The Manitoba Hindu Seniors Society celebrated India’s 75th Republic day at its premises in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The occasion was graced by special invitees- M.L.A. Chen Jennifer, Diljeet Brar. The function was started by Jyoti Prajavalan (lightening the holy candle). Then the chief guests were welcomed by the society.

Swatantar Prabhakar- the President of the society explained about the history and purpose for establishment of the society. He said that the society is a non-profit organization established for the needs and welfare of the seniors of the Hindu community. Ms. Kamlesh Arora gave a brief introduction to the chief guests of the day. Vijay Prabhakar briefed about the importance of Indian Republic Day. He said that though India got independence in 1947 but it was still being governed by British Laws. Then a constitutional Committee was formed under the Chairmanship of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to frame the Constitution of India. On 26th January 1950 the Constitution of India was implemented. India became the complete sovereign republic nation. Mr. Bhadresh Bhatt said the prayer and a Patriotic song- Jahan daal daal par sone ki chidiyan karti ha basera. Ms. Ganga Krishnamurti also extended their Best-wishes on the auspicious occasion of Indian Republic Day. Ajay Gupta also shared his knowledge about the importance of Republic Day.

A cultural program was also organized by the society. Adisha Gupta presented Jan Gan Man- National Anthem of India and O Canada- National Anthem of Canada. Swastika Kumar performed a dance item on a patriotic song “Vande Matram”. This dance performance was appreciated by everyone. Arya Sri Vastav sung a patriotic song- Teri Mitti mein mil javan. Anotherpatriotic song “Aye Mere watan ke logo” was sung by a group of Arzoo, Tasveer and Mehnaaz. Smriti Pandey also gave her performance in Taekwondo. Dance by Rhythm Dance Academy, on Patriotic theme was very stunning. Devi kirtnam Kathak dance performed by Sowmya of Jhankar group was the moment of the day.

Recorded Congratulatory message by Consulate General of India (Ottawa) was also was played on this occasion by the society.

The chief guests also addressed the audience. M.LAs Diljeet Brar congratulated all the Indians on this auspicious occasion of India’s Republic Day. M.L.A. Chen Jennifer appreciated the Manitoba Hindu Seniors society for organizing this function. Both M.L.A.s also extended the best wishes on Behalf of Mr. Wab Kinew the honorable Premier of Manitoba. Several members of the Indian community were present in the function-few of them are- Solicitor and Barrister Avnish jolly, Aruna Prabhakar, Shipra, Ajay Gupta, Navneet Chalotra (Navsaver), Indresh Pandey, Mahender Joshi, Veena Joshi, Ashish Pandya, Solicitor and Barristor Ketaki Purohit, Nisha, Neeraj Raja, Mr and Mrs. Sikka, Jeetu Ji etc.

Free food (Lunger) was served to everyone by society.
