Mohali, June 01, 2018 (CityNewsAre): Dairy Farmer Sukhvinder Singh of village Kandala has changed his life and is giving new directions to the youngsters in district SAS Nagar. Starting from production to packaging and further home to home distribution is being done by him, which gives him a monthly profit of Rs. 50 to 60 thousand after deducting all expenditures.

Encouraged by the family members in the year 2012, this young man has stepped in the dairy farming and now he has 45 cows which produce approximate 300 liters of milk daily. He had also taken a loan to start dairy farming on which he also got subsidy along with 45 days training course through dairy development department. He said that he has become successful in dairy farming by doing marketing by himself. He has Bulk Milk Cooler (BMC) of capacity 500 liter and also have a packing machine which prepares packets containing 500ml milk. He sell packed milk to households in Chandigarh by himself.

According to Sukhwinder Singh it is necessary to pay attention towards quality as well as quantity as the quality product has no limited market. People are becoming more aware about their health and are willing to pay more for quality products. He said that cow milk is in huge demand and sometimes it becomes difficult to fulfill the demand.

Sukhvinder Singh constantly remains in touch with the dairy development department and adopts new and modern techniques for improvement of his business. He also prepared green fodder and animal feed in his farm. He said that by approaching directly to the consumer, dairy farmer could earn more. Presently he sells milk at Rs. 46 per liter.

Sukhvinder Singh says that youngsters should adopt dairy farming as it has more opportunities. But youngsters should take the proper training and complete knowledge of dairy farming from the department.

Explaining about this Deputy Director Dairy Farming SAS Nagar, Kuldeep Singh said that department provides various trainings to the willing candidates for dairy farming, which includes 4 weeks training on dairy entrepreneurship, 2 Weeks dairy training and dairy products training course. Dairy Development Department provides bank loans to the trained candidates for setting up dairy farm for 2 or more milk cattle. Besides this from Milk Production to marketing, for each component a capital subsidy of 25 percent is provided to general category and 33 percent to SC category.
